REGULATIONS APPLYING TO ALL EXHIBITS IN THE AGRICULTURAL AND MARKET GROWER’S CLASSES

1. The exact number and kind of articles mentioned in the Entry must be sent, otherwise the Exhibit may be disqualified. 

2. Cards bearing the number and variety, wherever possible, must be attached to each Exhibit.  These cards will be sent by the Secretary to the Exhibitors. 

3. The Stewards reserve the right to refuse any Entry in any Class should they deem it necessary. 

4. The Stewards will not be answerable for any damage or loss that may occur to any Exhibit. 

5. In the event of any doubt or dispute arising as to the interpretation of these regulations, the decision of the Stewards shall be final. 

6. In this Section, all Exhibits shown for Prizes shall be the produce of the Exhibitor, and shall have been grown commercially on land farmed by the Exhibitor at least three months previous to the date of the Show.  The Stewards reserve the right to visit the fields of any Exhibitor before or after the Show.  Any Exhibitor who is proved to have exhibited Produce not of his own growing shall be disqualified, as determined by the Stewards. 

7. No person will be allowed to show more than one exhibit of each variety in each class. 

8. It is expected that Exhibits shall be exhibited as neatly as possible in the space provided. Sugar Beet to have the leaves and roots left on (they may be cleaned if desired).  Potatoes may be washed and are to be shot out on a tray to be provided by the Section.  Market Grower Classes-Entries must be presented in a Tray to be provided by the Exhibitor.  Entries normally classified as Horticultural will not be accepted in this Section.  Threshed Barley, Oats, Peas and Wheat must be presented to the Stewards in 15 kg lots.  From the lot so presented the Exhibitor will fill a special container, about 5 kg, as provided by the Section.  The final sample of some 5 kg will then be deemed to be the Entry made by the Exhibitor in the appropriate Class. 

9. Exhibits will be received on the Show day from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.  Any exhibits arriving after that time may be marked “too late” and not entitled to any prize. 

10. Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m.  The show will open at the conclusion of judging and close at 4.30 p.m.  No Exhibits may be removed before 4.30 p.m. but any exhibit remaining after 4.45 p.m. may be disposed of by the Stewards as they so decide. 

11. No person except responsible officials shall be allowed near the Enclosure during the time the Judges are making their awards.  If they decline, they may be disqualified. 

12. Any Exhibitor feeling himself aggrieved by any decision or mistake whatsoever, on entering a protest shall give notice in writing to the Secretary before 3 o’clock in the afternoon on the day of the show, and shall, at the same time deposit with the Secretary the sum of £10.00 which shall be forfeited to the Stewards if such objection or protest be deemed frivolous by the Judges or Stewards. 

13. The Stewards reserve the right to enter any 1st prize winning exhibit in the County Competition unless the exhibitor requests otherwise.

PRIZES

The “Lecquire Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup” - to be competed for annually on a points basis in the Agricultural Classes only.  First in the Class counts 3 points; Second in the Class 2 points; Highly Commended in the Class, 1 point. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the greater number of First awards to be a winner.  In addition to which a cash prize of £10.00 for the winner.
The “Knight Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup” – to be awarded annually on a points basis in the Market Growers Classes only, i.e. First, 3 points, Second, 2 points, Highly Commended, 1 point.  In addition to which a cash prize of £10.00 for winner.
The “L. J. Osborne Perpetual Challenge Cup” – for best exhibit in Potato Classes.  In addition to which a cash prize of £10.00 for winner.
The “Boorman Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup” – to be awarded annually for the best presented Sheaf in the show in addition to which a special prize of £10.00 for winner.
The “Allied Mills – Sunblest Cup” – to be awarded annually for the best Milling Wheat in the show in addition to which a special prize of £50.00 for winner.
The “Frontier Agriculture Cup” (previously Allied Grain Cup) – to be awarded annually for the best Milling Rye in the show, in addition to which a special prize of £40.00 for winner.
The “R & T – Rape Cup” – to be awarded annually for the best Rape in the show with addition of £10.00 for winner.
“The Peter Butler Memorial Cup” will be presented for the Best Farm Shop Display, in addition to which a cash prize of £20.00 for the winner.
“The Harlow Agricultural Cup” for best Malting Barley, a cash prize of £10.00 for the winner. 
“The Dengie Crops Cup” for best Marrowfat Canning Peas, a cash prize of £50.00 for the winner.
“The Dan Markham Cup” for best bale of meadow hay in the show, in addition to which a cash prize of £10.00 for the winner.
The “Allied Mills – Durum Wheat Prize”  £100 for best Durum Wheat in show.

No entry fees will be charged.

Judges Word is Final

Prizes will be by special presentation cards.  Other than money prizes as above with cups.

All Classes are open to any commercial grower in Great Britain who may wish to exhibit.

Attention is drawn to Rule 11.
