AFFILIATED HUNTER RIDDEN CLASSES

Prize Money: 1st £40, 2nd £30, 3rd £25, 4th £15 (2 prizes awarded for every complete 5 entries)
Entry Fee: £25 per class (inclusive of £7.50 RIHS qualifying levy)
1. LIGHTWEIGHT HUNTER, mare or gelding, four years old and over, capable of carrying up to 12 stones 7lbs.
2. MIDDLEWEIGHT HUNTER, mare or gelding, four years old and over, capable of carrying 12 stones 7lbs and not exceeding 14 stones.

3.

HEAVYWEIGHT HUNTER, mare or gelding, four years old and over, capable of carrying over 14 stone.

Championship: 1st and 2nd prize-winners of classes 1 - 3 to compete.
Champion to receive the LYSTER CUP. Champion £50.00 Reserve Champion £25.00
 

Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) 2008

All Hunter classes will be judged under the Society’s rules and SHB(GB) require all entries in the Hunter classes to be Registered. Classes 1-3 are qualifying events for the 2008 RIHS and only horses registered on the 2007 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form and owners and riders must be members of the Sport Horse Breeding of (GB) Society. The two highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at RIHS. Qualifiers will be contacted by SHB(GB) prior to RIHS 2008.
 

National Hunter Supreme Championship Show

Classes 1-3 are also qualifiers for the 2008 National Hunter Supreme Championship Show. Qualifiers will be contacted by SHBGB. The three highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the NHSCS.

Where competitors are In-Hand both walk and trot will be added together then this score will be added together then this score will be multiplied by 1.5. Example: Walk = 15 +Trot= 15 = 30x1.5 = Total score of 45.
 

The Veteran Horse Society Classes are open to both members and non members of the Veteran Horse Society. Please note that only Veteran Horse Society members are eligible to compete in the Regional Championship. Qualification cards will ONLY be given to members with their VHS membership cards as proof of membership to the society. Membership to the Society must be received no later than 14 days prior to the Area Qualifier Show. LATE MEMBERSHIP WILL STRICTLY NOT BE ACCEPTED.

For Horses or Ponies Any Height, 4 Years Old & Over, to be driven single, pair or tandem correctly and smartly harnessed to a sound, suitable and well maintained traditional type vehicle (Commercial vehicles, exercise vehicles and show wagons, not eligible).
The ARTHUR WHITEHEAD MEMORIAL Cup to the Hackney Type to be held for one year.
20a.

NON-HACKNEY TYPE 13.2hh and over

20b. NON-HACKNEY TYPE under 13.2hh
This class 20a & 20b is a qualifier for the 2008 Osborne Refrigerators & BDS Championships. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type-Sections, disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2008 Semi-Finals. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals.

(h) - Single Registered Mountain & Moorland (excluding purebred registered Welsh)
(i) - Pairs and Tandems – open. Any height.
(j) - Two-wheel Light Trade
(k) - Four-wheel Light Trade

This is a VICTORIA FOOD COMPANY Private Driving Championship Qualifier, the Champion to qualify for the final to be held on 23rd Sept 07 at the Welsh Showtime Finale, David Broome Event Centre, Chepstow.

The STAPLEFORD CUP, Sash and Trophy to the winner.

The first and second prize winners of classes 24 & 25 will qualify to compete at the Horse and Pony of the Year Championships on 29th & 30th September 2007 at Unex Towerlands Arena, Braintree, Essex. If one or both of these has already qualified it goes to third place.
26. LIGHT TRADE TURNOUT
Open to 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles.
The JAMES TODD TROPHY to the winner, to be held for one year.
Important: Classes 23 - 25 are affiliated to the Hackney Horse Society. All horses/ponies must be registered in the studbook of the UK Hackney Horse Society or of a recognised Hackney Society Abroad and all exhibitors must be members of the Hackney Horse Society.

Please note ruling for Novice Hackneys: To be eligible for a Novice class the exhibit may not have been a Novice Champion at an Annual Breed Show or Novice Hackney Horse or Pony of the Year. An animal can only be a Novice for three seasons from the start of their first show (not consecutive seasons). Minimum age of driver in open/novice classes is 16yrs at date of show.

HEAVY HORSES CLASSES
Affiliated to the SHIRE HORSE SOCIETY

Heavy Horse classes will start at 8.30am in the Heavy Horse Ring with classes 27 and 33.
Entry fees for Classes 27 – 43 is FREE.
No Prize Money will be paid for Classes 27 – 43 but each Exhibit forward will receive £30. This sum will be paid on each appearance where the exhibit is entered in more than one class.

Important 

Heavy Horses - a limited amount of over-night stables on the Showground are available by request.

 
BEST SHOD HORSE AWARD

Judge: Mr H. Dyer (North Yorks)

The Worshipful Company of Farriers Best Shod Award

An award for the Best Shod Horse in the Heavy Horse in hand section from classes 28, 36 and 37. 
The Judge will examine each horse before or during the line up for preliminary judging, taking into consideration.

  a. Condition of the feet.
b. The making (or preparation) and fitting of the shoes.
c. Nailing and position of the clips.
 

Normal shoes and showing plates are equally acceptable, PROVIDED they are suitable for the horse. Please state on the entry form the name and address of your farrier.

The Worshipful Company of Farriers will award a rosette to each class winner and a plaque to the overall winner. A plaque will also be awarded to the registered farrier of the overall winner. with an award for the registered farrier responsible for its feet and shoeing.

32. Foal, Progeny of Mare entered or eligible to be entered in class 31.
The Findlow Benson Perpetual Challenge Cup to be held for one year, to the highest placed Shire Foal in this class. Kindly presented by Mr D F Benson.
The Ray Osborne Cup to the winner of this class to be held for one year.

Please note: Class 27 start time 8:30 a.m. Heavy Horses please note - a limited amount of over-night stables on the showground are available by request.

Shire Championship: Open to 1st and 2nd prize-winners classes 27-32. Champion to receive a sash and £50. Champion will then go forward to the Supreme Championship. The STRUTT & PARKER Perpetual Cup to the Champion.

THE SHIRE HORSE SOCIETY is pleased to award a SILVER PLATED SPOON and ROSETTE to the Best Shire Mare or Filly, subject to the S.H.S. special conditions of offer. Highest placed Shire Mare or Filly in classes 27, 29 - 32 to compete. Please indicate whether you are eligible for this prize on your entry form.

Important

Classes 34 and 35 will be amalgamated if there are insufficient entries. Classes 38 and 40 will be amalgamated if there are insufficient entries. Classes 39 and 41 will be amalgamated if there are insufficient entries.

Percheron and Suffolk Championships

The Percheron and Suffolk Championships are open to 1st and 2nd prize-winners of classes 33 - 41. Champion to receive a sash and £50. Each Champion will then go forward to the Supreme Championship.
If classes are amalgamated the first two breed types in each class will be eligible for their individual Championship. The Suffolk Horse Society and Percheron Society, respectively, will present rosettes for their in hand Champion.

Supreme Championship

To be judged by both In Hand and Turnout judges. SUPREME CHAMPION to receive a sash, £100 and ‘The Barvills Cup’ to be held for one year.

42. In Hand Harness
Decorated with traditional brasses and capable of going to work. To be judged at 11.30am in the Heavy Horse Ring after the in hand Championships.
NATIONAL HORSE BRASS SOCIETY brass to the winner of this class.
The Hunter Shavings Cup to the winner of this class to be held for one year.
43. Young Handlers
Handler to be between 13 years and 16 years (i.e. born in the year 1991 up to and including 1994. Mares and Geldings (any Age) of any Heavy Horse Breed. To be judged at 13.30 in the Heavy Horse Ring.
The Sam Stacey Challenge Trophy to the winner of this class to be held for one year.

HEAVY HORSE HARNESS CLASSES

£150.00 to each Competitor.
