Everyone is welcome to take part in the Hobbies & Handicrafts section at the Orsett Show. You can download entry forms to print and post off, or you can enter online. A printed Schedule for the entire show is also available in shops, libraries and post offices during the Summer months. Forms will be available shortly - watch this space.

REGULATIONS APPLYING TO ALL EXHIBITS IN THE HOBBIES AND HANDICRAFTS SECTION

1. The exact number and kind of articles mentioned in the schedule of classes must be exhibited, otherwise the exhibit will be disqualified.

2. Exhibitor cards and produce labels etc. can be collected from the H&H Marquee during the times given in Regulation 10 below. The cards must be placed face down with each exhibit.

3. The decision of the Judges shall be final and they shall have discretionary power in cases where the exhibits are of doubtful quality, or where there are not more than three competitors, to diminish or withhold any of the prizes offered.

4. The Stewards reserve the right to refuse any entry in any Class.

5. The Stewards will not be answerable for any damage or loss that may occur to any exhibit.

6. In the event of any doubt or dispute by any exhibitor regarding the interpretation of these Regulations, the decision of the Stewards shall be final.

7. All persons intending to exhibit or compete must obtain an Entry Form from the Entry Secretary or from the Show website, which must be completed and returned by the given closing date.

8. All articles entered shall, except where stated, be the produce and property of the exhibitor. Any person who is proved to have exhibited produce not his own, shall be disqualified, as determined by the Stewards.

9. Exhibitors may enter up to four items in a Class, but no single item may be shown in more than one Class and Exhibitors shall not be entitled to more than one award in any one Class.

10. Exhibits will be received in the H&H Marquee on the Show Ground on Friday between 4pm and 7pm and on Show Day between 7am and 8am. Exhibits received after this time may not be judged.

11. Judging will begin at 9 am. The H&H Marquee will be open by 11 am, or on conclusion of judging, and will close at 5 pm. Exhibits are not to be removed from the show bench until 5 pm.

12. The H&H Marquee will be closed to exhibitors and members of the public while judging is in progress. Any exhibitor attempting to gain entry during this time will be disqualified.

13. Any exhibitor feeling himself aggrieved by any decision or mistake shall give notice in writing to the Chief Steward before 2.30 pm on the day of the Show and shall at the same time deposit with the Chief Steward the sum of £10, which shall be forfeited to the Stewards if such objection or protest be deemed frivolous or unfounded by the Judges or Stewards.

14. Rosettes and prize money will be awarded at the Stewards table after the presentation of Cups and Trophies. Rosettes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in each class. Prize money will be awarded as follows: 1st £3, 2nd £2, 3rd £1.

The Society's general By-Laws and Regulations shall apply to all entries, exhibitors and persons attending the show.

All photographs can be home or trade processed, monochrome or colour, but must have been taken by the exhibitor. They should measure a max. 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10in), and be mounted on card with maximum border of 2in. No frame required.

Cups and Trophies

Cups will be presented in the H&H Marquee at 4.45 pm

All Cups to be held for one year and to be returned to the Cup Steward, cleaned, no later than two weeks before the date of the next Show.

Points awarded as follows 1st - 3; 2nd - 2; 3rd - 1.

In the event of a tie on points, VHC, HC and C awards will be taken into consideration.

Prize Money will be awarded as follows: 1st - £3; 2nd - £2; 3rd - £1.

Art & Handicraft :

1. G Maryon Wilson Cup – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Art & Handicraft Classes 1 -11.

Needlework :

2. Mary Hayes Cup – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Needlework Classes 27-35.

3. Ann Carlow-Bunton Award for Knitting and Crochet – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in classes 22-26.

Domestic :

4. OH&A Society "Domestic" Cup – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Domestic Classes 43-58.

Junior :

5. J D Watt Cup – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Junior Age Group 5-10 Classes 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 36, 41, 59 and 61.

6. Plowright Cup – Awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Junior Age Group 11-16 Classes 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 37, 42, 60 and 62.
